Acquired from Lotus Bonsai 15 years ago, this Chinese Elm originally came from China, where it was grown for export. When first discovered, a nest of baby birds occupied the hollow trunk, and the tree could not be purchased until they had flown away. This personal connection adds sentimental value to the tree’s striking hollow form.
