This Kishu Shimpaku Juniper, originally a Rocky Mountain Juniper, was acquired in 2008 and grafted with Kishu foliage in 2010. It underwent initial development by Akio Kondo until 2016, with Peter Tea taking over its refinement afterward. The juniper's distinctive deadwood above the canopy gives it a resemblance to elk antlers, inspiring its nickname, "The Elk." The display is complemented by a Yamaaki container and a stand crafted by Tom Colby.
