This Red Maple was initially cultivated by Portland artist Anne Spencer, beginning as a three-year-old seedling. Root work was conducted annually, and leaf size reduction occurred after 18 years. Michael Hagedorn acquired the tree at age 20 and has maintained it for the last 15 years.
