About this display
Initially created in California in 1951, this Japanese Maple was initially a two-trunk tree. A third trunk was added through air layering, and over time, the tree’s roots have fused with the stone, creating a naturalistic root-over-rock form. The moss growing on the stone adds to its forest-like appearance, and Peter Tea has helped refine the tree’s development.
